David Schauer English Instructor
David Schauer has been an English instructor at Gibault Catholic since 2020 teaching sophomores, juniors, and seniors. He also teaches Health and the Emergency Medical Responder course. He was awarded the Emerson Award for Teaching Excellence in 2024.
David earned his Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in Writing, from Illinois State University, along with his Secondary Education Teaching Certificate. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in English Studies from Southeast Missouri State University. While there, David earned academic publications, taught courses, and traveled to universities around the country giving lectures on literature.
David is no stranger to a classroom, having previously taught in high schools, two-year colleges, and a four-year university. He taught English at SEMO for two years before coming to Gibault.
He also guides students outside of the classroom as the Women’s Golf Coach, the sponsor of the National Honor Society, and the sponsor of the Saturday Scholars. He has also had success earning multiple grants for Gibault.
While at home, David loves making art with his daughters. He’s also a big fan of lacrosse and hockey (Go, Blackhawks!)
