Mrs. Kovarik’s SLU Junior Composition class moved outside to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather this morning! It was a great place to work on their TV show creative writing project.

Each group is conceptualizing a 6-episode TV show based on a genre and topic of their choice. Today, they brainstormed ideas for the pilot episode, for which they will write a full screenplay later this semester. The project is teaching them about narrative construction, characterization, and the connection between written and visual messages; and it allows them to flex their creative muscles!

It’s the return of the Hawk Spotlight! Get to know some of the outstanding members of the Gibault Catholic Class of 2023! First up:

We are #gibaultproud to recognize Nate Nevois in the Hawk Spotlight!

Nate is a member of our senior class who came to Gibault from Saints Peter & Paul Grade School. At Gibault, Nate helps coordinate technology for theater and school events and is a member of Scholar Bowl, National Honor Society, Academic Challenge, and Band. Nate is also part of our Cross Country and Track teams.

Nate said attending Gibault is “learning, fun, it’s everything.” Nate commented, “You get out what you put in,” and believes that our unique schedule and number of opportunities for students are the best parts of Gibault.

Nate was nominated for his willingness to offer help when needed, especially when it comes to his expertise in technology. According to his nominating teacher, “Nate is a respectful young man who is active in a number of groups and activities. He came to me the first week of school and said if I ever needed help with any technology issues, to please let him know, and he would be happy to make sure things were handled.”

After graduation, Nate plans to attend college and study computer science.
