All four entrants representing Gibault in the Sectional tournament at Carbondale High School won their first-round match on Friday, Oct.17.
In Singles, Brie Miller won a hard-fought match against her opponent from Carbondale in two sets 7-5; 6-4, while Myra Coats defeated her opponent from Carmi, 6-1; 6-0.
In Doubles, Sophie Winkeler and Kaila Jerkatis split sets with a team from Benton, 6-3; 1-6, but held on to win the deciding third set in suspenseful fashion, 7-5.
