Scott Ruppel was hired in 2001 as the Gibault music director and has spent his entire teaching career here. Scott is a 1996 graduate of Mater Dei Catholic High School. He attended the University of Illinois, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.

In addition to being the Music Director, Scott is also in charge of the “Hawkappellas,” our a cappella group and was the golf coach for 12 years. Scott is also the Music Director at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo and Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School.

Scott and his wife, Michelle, have three children and a dog and live in Waterloo.  Their oldest, Kylie (Class of 2025). Carson currently attends Gibault and Addison attends Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School.  The family dog is a Goldendoodle, named Chloe.  In his spare time, Scott loves to play golf, watch Netflix, and spend time with his family.
