“It’s easy to feel like I ‘belong’ here.”

David Schauer English Instructor

David Schauer has been an English instructor at Gibault Catholic since 2020. Dave teaches sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Dave earned his Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in Writing, from Illinois State University, along with his Secondary Education Teaching Certificate. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in English Studies from Southeast Missouri State University. While there, Dave earned academic publications, taught courses, and traveled to universities around the country giving lectures on literature.

Dave is no stranger to a classroom, having previously taught in high schools, two-year colleges, and a four-year university. Dave taught English at SEMO for two years before coming to Gibault.

Dave put his writing skills to use and managed to earn a grant for Gibault. Dave likes that Gibault offers teachers the ability to bring their own style to the classroom while challenging students to the level of college-prep courses.

While at home, Dave loves making his daughter, Matilda, laugh and watching Saturday morning cartoons with her. He’s also a big fan of lacrosse and hockey (Go, Blackhawks!)
