Haley Kovarik English & Public Speaking Instuctor/English Department Chair
Haley (Riebeling) Kovarik has been an English instructor at Gibault Catholic since the fall of 2018. Haley teaches junior and senior SLU English, advanced junior English, public speaking, creative writing, and sci-fi literature. She serves as English Department Chair and sponsors the Student Activities Board and the Young Women Professionals Club.
Haley is a 2010 Gibault graduate and attended St. Louis University where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts in English (2013) and Master of Arts in English (2015). Prior to coming home to Gibault, Haley taught as a graduate assistant at SLU while completing her master’s. She was previously a Learning and English Specialist in the Success Center at Southwestern Illinois College and then worked as an Academic Advisor at SWIC, as well.
Haley is married to Marty Kovarik (Class of 2009), and together they have two beautiful children, Tess and Patrick, who are future Gibault Hawks. As you’d expect of an English teacher, Haley likes to spend her free time reading, and then reading some more. She loves sports, particularly college basketball and professional volleyball, film and literature memes, and cracking a joke (or several) while teaching.
