Karen Asbury has been a Science instructor at Gibault Catholic High School since 2007. Karen also serves as the department chair. Karen earned her B.S in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, her M.S. in Biology from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville; and her Teaching Certification from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

Prior to entering the teaching profession, Karen worked as a research scientist and research chemist for companies such as Pharmacia/Pfizer, Monsanto/Searle Company – Life Sciences, and Monsanto Company – The Agricultural Group.

At Gibault, Karen is the sponsor of Students Concerned with Our Planet & Environment, better known as SCOPE. This group of students works to preserve the earth, protect the environment, and educate the Gibault student body on conservation issues.
